Kim Kardashian has been on a furniture frenzy lately! Remember when she tried to add some flair to a Lakers game with her fancy Hermès bag? And who can forget the peek inside her all-beige SKKN office, complete with a custom mannequin and 3D models of her brain and plane? Talk about unique decor!

But here’s a heads-up for anyone who, like Kim, has recently caught the furniture bug: make sure you know your stuff! A recent lawsuit might make you think twice before boasting about your designer pieces.

Back in 2022, Kim gave a tour of her massive SKKN office (different from the 2024 one!). While strolling through the sea of beige, she proudly pointed out her “Donald Judd tables,” praising how well they matched the chairs. The late Donald Judd was known for his sleek, minimalist designs, so it seemed like a natural fit for Kim’s signature monochrome style.

Except… there was a tiny problem. The Judd Foundation, which protects the artist’s legacy, recently sued Kim, claiming she never actually owned real Donald Judd tables and misled everyone.

According to the New York Times, the lawsuit targets both Kim and the design company that created her office space. The Judd Foundation believes the company ripped off two of Judd’s original pieces: a super expensive table and chair set. They even included an invoice from the design company that described the furniture as “in the style of Donald Judd.” Apparently, only three real tables have been sold in the last 15 years, and none of them ended up in Kim’s office!

Things got interesting when the Judd Foundation contacted Kim about the furniture after the video went viral. Kim’s team apologized for the confusion and offered to fix the video caption. But the Judd Foundation wanted more. They requested the video be deleted, the fake tables be destroyed (art world lingo for “recycled”), and a public apology from Kim. Negotiations continued, with Kim’s team offering a social media shoutout to the Foundation, but it seems that wasn’t enough. Here we are, two years later, with a lawsuit on Kim’s hands.

We haven’t heard back from Kim’s team yet, but the design company insists there are clear differences between Kim’s tables and the real deal. They also claim to be surprised by the lawsuit after trying to settle things peacefully. A lawyer for the Judd Foundation, however, says the quality of Kim’s tables is far below Donald Judd’s standards. They simply don’t want to be associated with Kim’s furniture choices.

So, the moral of the story? Know your furniture, folks! And maybe stick to the periodic table when it comes to showing off your knowledge.
